The MXGP will run in Oss on July 18, according to the new calendar presented by the international motorsport federation FIM on Wednesday. The season now starts on June 13 with the Grand Prix of Russia.
The Grand Prix motocross in Noord-Brabant was supposed to be held on May 23, but due to the corona pandemic, a new date had to be found. The event in Oss is therefore no longer the season opener, but is the fifth Grand Prix weekend on the calendar.
The opening races in Russia will be followed by Great Britain (June 27), Italy (July 4) and Latvia (July 11). The season will close in the autumn with three GPs outside Europe, one in Argentina (November 14) and two in Indonesia (November 28 and December 5).
At the end of last year it was announced that Oss had secured a place on the MXGP calendar for five years. Circuit De Witte Ruysheuvel has often been the setting for a Grand Prix in motocross in the past. In recent years, the Dutch GP was held in Valkenswaard.
Jeffrey Herlings became world champion in 2018. In 2019 and 2020 he was plagued by injuries, which prevented the Brabant driver from taking the title again.
The organizers of the World Cup hope that in view of the vaccination campaigns, spectators will again be welcome at the circuits.
