Educators and many health professionals are filled with uneasiness and fear that they will have to return to classrooms from 19 April, even within days of the first vaccination, according to a decree issued over the weekend.
The reopening of schools is conditional on the protection of those working in education against the coronavirus, education unions and experts said in a joint statement sent to MTI on Tuesday.
They highlighted that educators and many health professionals are concerned about the uneasiness and fear of having to return to classrooms from 19 April, even within days of the first vaccination, according to a decree issued over the weekend.
It has also been pointed out that previous government briefings have communicated radically the opposite, with National Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller regularly pointing out that no one should feel protected immediately after receiving a vaccine, as it takes time, up to two to three weeks, until the immune system responds properly and produces the antibody.
The government is called upon to ensure safe working conditions for all teachers and those working in education, in accordance with previous government guidelines. They also ask the government to order attendance training only after waiting for the immunization period in accordance with the instructions for use of each vaccine.
