The Dutch cyclist Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick Step) will reappear next Sunday in the first stage of the Tour of Turkey, eight months after the serious accident suffered in the Tour of Poland.
After the hard accident on August 5, 2020 in the first stage of the Return to Poland with goal in Katowice after a dangerous maneuver by his compatriot Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma), Jakobsen underwent several facial surgeries to rebuild his face.
The recovery process has been slow, but already in February he was able to participate in a rally with the rest of the team. Now his team announces his return to competition.
In that spectacular accident, Jakobsen suffered severe head trauma and crushing of the palate and airways.
Jakobsen’s reappearance, who will speak to the press on Thursday, will take place on Sunday with the first stage Tour of Turkey between Nevsehir and rgp, and the test runs until the 18th. In the course there will be 4 clear options for the arrival to the sprint, where the Dutchman can be put to the test.
