Surprisingly, in the smartphone market, HTC has outlived LG, which recently announced the closure of its mobile division. Even though the Taiwanese company is experiencing tremendous difficulties, it intends to introduce several new 5G smartphones this quarter.
Information about the imminent launch of new HTC devices was shared by DigiTimes, citing anonymous industry sources. According to them, already in this quarter, the Taiwanese company will present new smartphones with 5G support, as well as some AR / VR products. Formal confirmation of the upcoming announcement is that HTC has slashed the price of its first 5G smartphone, the HTC U20 5G. In terms of AR / VR products, HTC is reportedly expanding the VIVE family with devices for communication, learning and work. More details have not yet been disclosed.
All these products, according to sources, are planned to be released in the current quarter. However, there is a possibility that their launch will be delayed due to the global shortage of microcircuits.
