Berlin – In Germany, there were 20,407 new cases of coronavirus infection in the last day, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported today. That’s almost 4,000 less than a week ago, but the RKI assumes that fewer people were tested during Easter, and it’s also possible that some hygiene stations didn’t give it data for some days. On Wednesday, Germany reported 306 deaths of coronavirus patients, up from 201 a week earlier.
To date, there are a weekly total of 105.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, on Wednesday it was 110.1.
Since the beginning of the current pandemic, about 2.93 million people have been infected with coronavirus in Germany, which has a population of 83 million, 77,707 of whom have died. 2.63 million people are considered cured.
The seven-day reproduction number in Germany is currently 0.76, the previous day was 0.81. This means that an average of 76 infected people infected another 76. If the number is below one value for a long time, the infection is considered to subside. RKI points out that the reduction in the reproduction number may also be related to the Easter holidays.
