The XVIII International Competition of Accordion Soloists “Nauene 2021” is for the first time held in a remote format, the Daugavpils Regional Council reports.
For many years now, the Naujene School of Music and Art, in cooperation with the Daugavpils Regional Department of Culture, has been organizing this competition in order to discover new, talented performers, as well as to popularize the playing of the accordion. Last year, due to the pandemic, the competition did not take place, and this year the jury will audition the participants remotely – by video.
136 talented children from Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania and Poland have applied for participation in “Nauen – 2021” this year, for the first time young accordionists from the Czech Republic will take part in the competition. The Naujene School of Music and Art will be represented by six students.
Director of the Naujene School of Music and Art Ruslan Margevich admits that this year the number of participants is slightly less than two years ago, but this is due to the difficulties associated with the restrictions caused by the pandemic.
The jury of the competition this year is made up of serious musicians, teachers and composers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Belarus and France, who will evaluate the achievement of each participant in the period from 12 to 14 April. The results of the competition will be announced shortly.
