Suara.com – Currently, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has not implemented odd-even rules regarding the latest situation of the Covid-19 pandemic. And on the other hand, traffic conditions are already experiencing congestion in various sections.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), Syafrin Liputo, stated that his party was focusing on reducing the rate of Covid-19 transmission in the transportation sector. However, he said that even odd is not yet an option to be implemented.
“Currently, odd-even has not been implemented. Of course everyone must understand that we are currently trying to reduce the rate of positive cases of Covid-19,” explained Syafrin Liputo at the City Hall of DKI Jakarta, Wednesday (7/4/2021).
According to him, odd-even has not been implemented because the risk of transmitting Covid-19 when congestion is low. Car users will not interact with many people who might be infected with the virus.
If a car experiences flat tires and is forced to run, this is the risk
“If there is a traffic jam, the person concerned is in their own car. So that automatic interaction does not occur,” he said.
Conversely, by applying odd-even, public transport users will increase. So that the potential for Covid-19 transmission will increase, because public transportation passengers are crammed using mass vehicle facilities.
“The use of public transportation is still limited, namely a maximum of 50 percent of the available capacity,” he said about the health protocol applied to public transportation.
