Suara.com – Manchester United picked two important away goals after beating Granada 2-0 in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final at the Nuevo Los Carmenes Stadium, Granada, Spain, Thursday local time or Friday (9/4/2021) early morning WIB.
Marcus Rashford opened the Red Devils’ lead in the 31st minute after chasing a long pass from Victor Lindelof, controlling the ball before deluding goalkeeper Rui Silva with a shot into the right corner of the net, according to the official UEFA website notes.
The goal saw Rashford follow in the footsteps of his partner Bruno Fernandes as the fourth Premier League player to score 20 or more goals in all competitions this season after Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane (29) and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah (27).
The hosts almost scored a return goal in the 40th minute, with a free kick ending in a Yangel Herrera cross that had beaten goalkeeper David de Gea, but the ball still hit the post.

The second half MU was more in control, but never able to double their advantage, instead their goal was threatened in the 67th minute when Kenedy broke into the penalty box unfortunately his shot was still easily tamed by De Gea.
In the 83rd minute Daniel James took the lead on the MU counter-attack, but his pass which Bruno Fernandes tried to finish was countered by Silva and the gag ball was cleared by Jesus Vallejo.
At the end of normal time, MU finally locked their 2-0 victory through Fernandes’ penalty after he was violated by Yan Eteki in the forbidden area.
The victory is clearly a positive asset for MU, who will then act as host at Old Trafford for the second leg on Thursday (15/4) next week.
