The lower house candidate for the Encuentro Solidario party in the northern state of Chihuahua said he sent a message to politicians that people were dying “because of their ignorance.”
Mayorga emerged from a gold-colored coffin at a campaign rally on the bridge between the Mexican border town of Ciudad Juarez and El Paso.

He was accompanied by his aides wearing personal protective equipment and carrying wreaths to attract attention.
“Politicians are silent about the high rate of organized crime. They have remained silent about the chaotic Covid-19 situation,” Mayorga said.
More than 300,000 people have died since the government deployed the military in its fight on drugs in 2006, according to official figures.
The midterm election campaign in June brought about a wave of political violence in which 16 candidates were killed.
