The Porto court sentenced a man from Gondomar to 14 years in prison for sexually abusing, over six years, the minor daughter of his partner, with whom he cohabited, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) said on Thursday.
A group of judges from the São João Novo court, the main criminal court in Porto, considered the practice of over one hundred and half crimes to be proven: 14 of aggravated child sexual abuse, 138 of aggravated child sexual abuse and one of offense to simple physical integrity.
In addition to the prison sentence, the man was ordered to pay the victim 50 thousand euros as compensation for non-pecuniary damage.
“At stake were sexual conduct conducts, practiced over almost six years, initiated when the victim was 12 years old and the defendant took advantage of the moments when the partner left the residence to work”, indicates the MP , in a note published today on the Porto Attorney’s website.
When setting the sentence, the court took into account, among other factors, “the high degrees of illegality and guilt, the psychological consequences that resulted for the victim and the high demands for general prevention, given the frequency with which this type of crime occurs. and the feeling of disgust, uneasiness and insecurity that it causes in the community “, affirms the MP.
Until the judgment becomes final, the defendant will maintain the preventive detention coercion measure.
