The Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) with Soli radar has a date for its arrival in Spain and we already know what its price will be

In mid-March Google announced the second generation of its Nest Hub. Its loudspeaker with a screen that would debut progressively in different markets and that now you already have an arrival date in Spain (along with other countries) so that those interested can get hold of it.

A speaker that comes with interesting news, especially focused on helping the user to rest better. Part of this responsibility falls on Soli technology, patented by Google, which inherits what we already saw in the Pixel 4. A system that allows the detection of gestures and that also features Motion Sense sensors to monitor sleep.

Improve our rest

The second-generation Nest Hub is a speaker that gives all the limelight to a 7-inch diagonal 1,024 x 600-pixel screen resolution. With generous bezels, they have removed the “step” that formed the bezel and now we can slide our fingers smoothly.

This is how I created a stereo system with two Apple HomePod Mini speakers

With an ARM Quad Core processor at 1.9 GHz, this model includes a 1.7-inch speaker and three microphones long range to facilitate the recognition of what is happening around. But where it unfolds its full potential is when talking about sensors.

Google has introduced a Soli radar with Motion Sense, a brightness sensor and a temperature sensor. With all these sensors we can interact with the screen without having to touch it, but above all they are intended to improve the quality of our sleep.

Something that is possible thanks to the Motion Sense function. It’s the Nest Hub’s way of keeping track of our break. This function makes use of the Soli radar, mentioned above, so that it can analyze sleep based on movement and breathing, at the same time as identifies coughs, snoring, light fluctuations, and temperature changes.

And for the most suspicious and who take more care of their privacy, Google ensures that “Motion Sense” only detects movement, not specific bodies and the cough and snoring audio data is only processed on the device itself. Furthermore, the speaker has a visual indicator on the screen to warn that the function is activated, being able to deactivate it from the settings or block the function with a physical switch.
