Prague – The Czech currency stagnated today after the previous strengthening. It remained the strongest against the euro since mid-February at CZK 25.83 / EUR, ending unchanged against the dollar at CZK 21.70 / USD, ie with the best exchange rate since the beginning of March. This follows from the data on the Patria Online website. The Prague Stock Exchange stagnated today. The PX index gained three hundredths of a percent and closed the day at 1,088.16 points.

“Today, the domestic currency remained mainly in the range of CZK 25.80 to 25.90 / EUR,” described Komerční banka economist Jana Steckerová. According to her, the koruna lacked domestic impulses for further gains and was not supported by the exchange rate of the euro against the dollar. “With the possible weakening of the dollar against the euro, it could easily lose its profits,” she added.

The market does not mind reports of a February decline in industrial and construction production in the Czech Republic, as it monitors information about the announced termination of closures introduced due to coronavirus, said Next Finance analysts. “The koruna strengthened slightly today and peeked below the level of 25.80 CZK / EUR. In the afternoon, however, it lost part of its profits,” they added.

In the medium term, economists expect the Czech currency to strengthen. “It works for the central bank. It will not be forced to raise interest rates until the summer and may not raise them at all this year,” added Next Finance analysts.
