Prague – The new Minister of Health Petr Arenberger (for YES) will evaluate the further development of the covid-19 epidemic at a press conference today. It should also definitively announce in which regions kindergartens and primary schools will not open on Monday. According to the representatives of the regions and regional hygienic stations, this will probably not only happen in the Děčín district; on the contrary, the often mentioned Zlín region will release the measure. From Monday, shops with children’s clothes or shoes, stationery, dry cleaners, markets or zoological and botanical gardens are also to open.
The current director of the Royal Vinohrady University Hospital, Arenberger, joined the head of the Ministry of Health on Wednesday. Together with Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, he mentioned as his priorities the improvement of communication or the availability of monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of covid-19. It was because of these two issues that the Prime Minister criticized his predecessor, whom he recalled, Jan Blatný.
The Minister also admitted that the Sputnik V vaccine could be available in the Czech Republic for people who would care about its administration. They would be part of a clinical study in which the vaccine would be tested in volunteers. He requested documents from the State Institute for Drug Control available for this vaccine. However, Prime Minister Babiš reiterated on Wednesday that the vaccine will not be administered in the Czech Republic until it has been approved by the European Medicines Agency.
