Ayanna Williams, from Houston, Texas, can finally open a rested door, cook, make a bed or do the dishes. The Texan, who became known for breaking the Guinness record for the biggest nails in the world, cut them this weekend, after 30 years of letting them grow.
The record was set in 2017, with the woman’s nails measuring 5.8 meters. At that time Ayanna spent two large bottles of varnish and 20 hours of her day doing the complete manicure. Even before cutting it, the nails were measured again and … New record: they measured 7.33 meters, all nails in total. Ayanna’s last manicure required four bottles of nail polish and two days of work.
The farewell to the long ‘claws’ took place in a dermatology clinic and it was necessary to use an electric cutting tool to make the first cut that Ayanna’s nails experienced since the 1990s.
“With or without my nails, I’m going to be a queen anyway. My nails don’t do what I am: I do my nails,” said Ayanna to the Guinness Book of Records.
Now, the woman has plans to grow her nails ‘only’ up to 16 centimeters. Ayanna’s cut nails will now be on display at an unusual museum, Ripley’s Believe It or Not !, in Orlando, Florida.
The previous record belonged to Lee Redmond, who had not cut his nails since 1979. Unfortunately, in a car accident in 2009, the woman lost her 8.5-meter nails.
